4th of July

Posted 2023/July 3rd

Good morning Crankin A’s,

I hope everyone is doing well, with exciting plans to celebrate the 4th of July tomorrow. Our neighborhood already began celebrating over the weekend with one resident hosting a live concert and backyard firework display. That’s life in the country!

Tinker Tuesday last week was very interesting.  Harvey held a class on starter repair. He dissembled several starters and explained each part and how each one works. We learned how to inspect for defects and he gave tips on cleaning.  He left us with a box of part. Once we clean the parts and reassemble them there may be enough good parts to make an operational starter for the club to have a spare to loan out. Thank you Harvey for sharing all your knowledge with us. We posted some photos and a video to Instagram and someone asked if we would do it live next time so he could participate!  So maybe we can convince Harvey to hold another starter class in the fall when our snowbirds return from the North and do it live on Instagram.

In case you didn’t hear, James and Lori had their ‘New Car’ Model A on display last month at The Casements in Ormond Beach. The Casements held a Father & Daughter dinner and dance and asked James and Lori if they would display their 1928 Ford. They made the newspaper and received a real nice thank you note from the cultural center coordinator, Siobhan M Daly, of the City of Ormond Beach. Way to go James & Lori!!

It is HOT outside. I don’t know about you but I am reluctant to get our Model A out on the road right now, unless it is for a midnight ride!

The Garage is going to be open tomorrow as usual. So, if you want to go out to Barberville people will be there.

At the last meeting it was decided to cancel ladies day at Nancy’s. So, the next ladies day will be Tuesday 8/1/23.

There are no plans for Playing on the Porches at the Settlement in July or August.  It’s too hot!

Here are the upcoming events for July:

7/13/23 Thurs, club dinner at Rossellinis Italian Cuisine at 5 PM. Address is 136 S Atlantic Ave, Daytona Beach. Thank you Sheila #3 and Herman for setting up our dinner plans for July.

7/17/23 Mon, Service for Ron Kwiecien at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 10 AM. Address is 5525 US 1, Mims, FL 32754.

7/29/23 Sat, club monthly meeting at the Pioneer Settlement at 10 AM.  This month we are going to meet in the Auditorium of the school house (in the AC, yah).  Randy Poirier has been working feverishly on our new website design. It is really coming together beautifully. We are planning to have a special website reveal on the big screen that day. You won’t want to miss it!  We are eternally grateful to Randy for all his hours and hours of work with our new website design. I can’t wait for you all to see it😊

If anyone would like to meet up for breakfast this month let me know and I will send the information out to the club.

Wishing everyone a safe and Happy 4th of July. I hope it’s a blast! Kim
