Updates 8/30/2023
Good Afternoon Crankin A’s, Hopefully everyone is safe and sound and not experiencing any negative affects from hurricane Idalia. About now I am happy we are on the East coast this time. The minutes from the August meeting have been emailed out to everyone, and James is going to post it on our website. Please take a few minutes to read it over, maybe twice!  It is a lot! The weather looks like it will be really nice for the Fire and Ice event on Sat 9/2/23 at the Pioneer Settlement. The chili cookoff and ice cream churnoff will be in the auditorium.  On the campus will be musicians playing on the porches as well as the community yard sale.  We are planning to have a table of extra tools, etc for sale, located in front of the Garage. Harvey has been busy organizing the tool boxes and pulling out those unneeded tools. Please get your Model A’s dusted off, drive them over to the event and park in front of the Garage.  If you are simply driving your cars (not participating in the auditorium event or yard sale) I would plan on staying from about 10 – 2. The kitchen will be open with the usual lunch items. 9/5/23 Tues – All club car volunteers please be at the Garage this day. Glen is ready to really dive in on the restoration project. 9/5/23 Tues – Ladies Day with Nancy.  Fun begins at 9:00 AM 9/12/23 Tues – This being the Tuesday prior to International Model A Ford Day, last minute preparations need to be made to open up the Garage to our guests. 9/14/23 Thurs – is our monthly club dinner hosted by Dennis and Judy.  Thank you for switching months with Jim and Marina, who will be out of town. 9/15/23 Fri – set up for International Model A Ford Day. Erick will firm up a time for tent raising, but it should be between noon and 4 PM.  They may have a field trip in the morning.  He is going to check on it and let me know. 9/16/23 – International Model A Ford Day. Here is the revised tentative schedule for that day:
  • 9:00 AM – set up tables and chairs in the auditorium
  • 10:00 AM – Clubs begin arriving. Meet and Greet from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
  • 11:00 AM – lunch is being served in the auditorium kitchen by the Pioneer Settlement.
  • 11:30 AM – trivia/storytime in the auditorium
  • 12:30 PM - clean up and everyone moves from the auditorium to the Garage.
  • 12:30 PM – Activities begin at the Garage
  • 1:00 PM – 50/50 and raffle prizes
  • 3:00 PM – event concludes
If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know. Or if I forgot anything! Dennis and I have been communicating with Erin at MARC for different issues. Recently regarding insurance, but also with membership and website information. I emailed her today to update their website with our Regions contact information as discussed at our recent meeting. She said she is currently working to update their software to separate each Regions membership, which is something we have been asking for. Here is a reply back from her:   I am hoping all the work now makes it better for all the regions in the future.  Change usually starts with a lot of work, but ends up making everything better.  So far I am really loving the new software so I want to make sure it benefits everyone to the largest extent possible.  Thanks for being a region who is totally on top of everything. You were the first one I pointed out to Jim Zimmer when he started out as our region coordinator. (Erin) This is a real compliment to us. Thank you to all the Crankin A’s for your cooperation in making this such a strong club. It is a pleasure to be a part of this fun loving group.  Thank you from me to you. Hey, maybe that should be a theme for the next Presidents Message! Have a good one! Kim
