Description

Meeting Minutes:

The July Meeting of the Crankin A’s Model A Restorers Club. Inc. was

opened by President, Kim Ziffra, at 9:58 AM on July 29, 2023, at

Pioneer Art Settlement, 176 Lightfoot Ln, Barberville, FL. 32105.

There were 40 members present. It was requested that the minutes of

the June Meeting be accepted as sent out to all members via e-mail. A

motion was made and accepted. Our Treasurer, Dennis Dunn, reported

that we have $1,492.96 in our Club Treasury; $10,843.68 in our HG

(Garage) Fund, and $9,320.46 in our Donation Fund and have added two

new members, bringing number to 74 current members.

Kim opened our meeting by introducing Randy Poirier to bring us up to

date on our New Web Site. Randy with a little help from James

Foresman and Kim Ziffra had to transition from Ron’s web page to our

current site, part of which was not compatible. He went through our

new site category by category being very thorough, answering questions

and taking suggestions to improve; such as adding a membership

application, Bylaws, and link for donations. Was quite apparent to all

present that he had to have spent many many hours perfecting it’s

contents. Our new site can be found at: www.crankinasfl.com and our

new Webmaster, James Foresman (assisted temporarily by Kim and

Randy) can be reached at: webmaster@crankinasfl.com. Both old site

and new can be reached until November. New site can be reached by I-

phone; I-pad, and computer. A very heartfelt “Thank You, Randy” was

expressed by all members being introduced to this new up-to-date

webpage!

Sunshine Report: Karen sent Sympathy card and Figurine to Connie

Kwiecien for Ron’s passing and Get-Well cards to Joe Filakosky; Ron

Dixon and Dennis Dunn.

Cleo Banfi gave us trivia on Henry Ford. Henry’s lawyer was told that

the automobile would never amount to anything and was just a fad. He

invested $5,000 anyway – turned into a $12.5 million investment. Sang

Herman’s Garage: Continuing to work on display area. A children’s

area is needed. Story about the Fords and the Firetruck needed for the

display stands. A Club Car sign up sheet was passed for the “Pit Crew”

to be formed for working on project starting Tuesday, August 1, 2023.

Eric from Settlement stopped by and showed us the sign he will have for

us ready shortly for placement around the Settlement giving directions to

our Ford Garage. He also explained the importance of the School

Tours they give mostly during the school year to area children because it

provides much of the funds needed to keep up and running. Have been

doing the tours for over 40 years. They need our help so we can add our

Garage to some of their tours like their Pioneer and Florida History

Tours. Volunteers are needed: August 3 is their next Tour and asked if

anyone would like to shadow to see how they work them. When school

resumes they can have some 3 or 4 days a week and up to 7 groups of 20

or so children stopping at designated sites for 10 -15 minutes starting at

10 AM. If anyone would like to shadow their first tour on 8/3 be there

by 9:30. Contact Page at the settlement to give your phone number to

be notified of the Tours. Will need coverage at our Display Area for the

Tours that include us.

A genuine “Thank You” is also given to Monica King, the daughter of a

past very active member (Ed Smith) for a donation to us in his Honor.

Their NAPA Store in Bunnell, FL was used by many of our members to

work on their cars & trucks. He was always very generous with his

products to help our Club. Many of our tours would originate from his

Store in Bunnell.

Meeting adjourned at 11:31AM. 50/50 was won by Marina Coidakis

who will pick August’s dinner restaurant.

Respectfully Submitted: Elaine B. Lowe, Secretary
