President Bruce Hawley called the meeting to order at 11:00 am in the Garage.   In attendance was:

  • President Bruce Hawley
  • Vice-President Kevin Duffy
  • BOD Member JB Barnes
  • BOD Member Fred Ziffra
  • BOD Member Ed Hart
  • BOD Member Steve Anderson
  • BOD Member Larry Antonelli
  • BOD Member (alternate) Joe Filakoski

BOD Member Glen Jewell was not in attendance.  With six members in attendance, a quorum was present.

Bruce Hawley discussed the need for the Board of Directors to take a more active leadership role in running the club, particularly club activities.  He explained that board members would be tasked with organizing and leading segments of larger upcoming events, especially those events conducted in conjunction with the Barberville Pioneer Settlement.  With the “Spring Frolic” and its associated car show, the fall “Frolic” and car show, as well as the Settlement’s 50thAnniversary in November, there will be a lot of tasks that will be distributed.  Board members will be tasked with leadership roles for these large events.

Bruce reminded the board that this coming Saturday, February 7, will be the Celebration of Olde Florida from 10am until 2pm.  We would like Model A’s to display in front of the museum and folks to hang out and answer questions from visitors, even if you do not bring a Model A.

March 28-29 is the Settlement’s Spring Frolic with our accompanying car show in the traditional location.  The Crankin’ A’s will be responsible for always staffing the paying gate next to the show area with at least two people on both days.  Additionally, for the car show on Saturday we will set up our tent and tables right next to the car show field entry gate, monitoring those coming in and preventing attendees from avoiding the pay gate!

For the Saturday car show, the steam tractor is supposed to be relocated to provide us more room and to avoid hot embers from the tractor falling on show cars.  The Settlement will line the ground with parking guidance for us to provide a more orderly show car parking and to provide a more orderly and direct path for cars leaving the show.  With that, Saturday will require parking lot attendants to help direct show cars to their spots wearing Orange Traffic Vests.

Steve Anderson volunteered to act as the Chairman of the Board of Directors.  Steve will be integral to ensuring that those Board members tasked with filling assignments and running their areas of concern for the various shows follow through.  This new role in the club will evolve as we move through the upcoming events.

Bruce and Kim Ziffra announced that the new weekly “box fee” in the Garage will increase from $2 to $3.  Board members are to encourage those who attend Tinker Tuesday to contribute each week.  This fee helps cover the costs for coffee, drinks, plates, food, etc.

Bruce reminded Board Members that meetings would be held on the first Tuesday of every month at the Garage at 11:00 am. At 11:20 am, Bruce closed the meeting.

Respectfully submitted,

Kevin Duffy, Vice President
