February 2026

February is here and while much of the country is dealing with below freezing temperatures, snow on the ground and in tall drifts, sleet, hail, and other such unpleasantness, here in sunny central Florida we get to decide whether it's a shorts-and-t-shirt day or a long-pants-sweatshirt day.  And admit it - we all take great pleasure in clicking off tropical scenes with our cell phones and sending them to friends and relatives left in the north country with comments on how we almost froze to death when it went "all the way down to 53 degrees last night!"  It's why we live here, no?

Many of our Model A friends who happen to live north of us have long since put their cars to sleep for the winter - "winterizing" until the weather makes it better for touring.  But we have events, tours and fun happenings all winter!  Admittedly it can get a little cool on some days in our "brutal" winter, and it can get a little warm in the middle of the summer, but we have the advantage of being able to use our cars all year 'round.

To take advantage of that, we have events all month every month.  There are drives, car shows and tours that we are busy planning to keep the wheels spinning all year.  Keep checking the website and we will do our best to keep you informed.  Some of the events are "popups" that we don't necessarily group up and drive to - we just show up.  Others have start points we meet and caravan to the event - always making a grand show of it.  Either way, they are fun.

So let's talk about car shows; the shows that we do are normally free to attend either as a spectator or as a car owner.  But there are some that are arranged as a benefit for some local charity that require an entry fee.  While some balk at paying to enter a show, paying ten, fifteen or twenty bucks that then goes to some local deserving charity is not a bad thing.  And at these shows, we make new friends for the club and for the Model A community at large.  It is amazing how many folks to whom we speak with at these shows  1) have a Model A at home and 2) have no idea that the Crankin' A's of Daytona Beach even exists.  So check the calendar and EVENTS on the website, get the car out and dusted off and meet us at these shows and events.  We have a great time - and don't forget to bring a chair!

That's all for now.  Be safe and keep driving - that is what Henry wanted us to do.
