MEETING MINUTES – AUGUST 29, 2026
The August Meeting of the Crankin A’s Model A Restorers Club, Inc. was opened by Vice President, Kevin Duffy, at 10:02 AM on August 29, 2026, at the Pioneer Art Settlement, 176 Lightfoot Lane, Barberville, Fl., 32105. There were 25 members present including our newest member, Robert Wolf.
It was requested that the Minutes of the last meeting be accepted as reported on our Web Site: crankinasfl.com. A motion was made and accepted.
In the absence of our Treasurer, Ed Hart, Kim Ziffra read his report, and it will be available upon request. We have 75 current members.
Sunshine Report: Karen Wiajewski reported sending one Get Well card to Jodi Widajewski. (a healthy happy car club)
Question of the Day: Kevin asked Henry Ford’s age when he died. He was 83, passing away on April 7, 1927. Credited with creating Middle class – he dabbled in airplanes, jeeps, oil in Brazil, turning over the Model A to his friend, Edsel to move forward. The Ford Model A was kept alive by many active Car Clubs.
Project Car Report: Paul Howes commented that “it was still there.” Gary Michael reported that Paul contributed woodwork this past week and the steering column has been fixed.
Web Site Report: Kevin reported three members have cars For Sale listed on the Site.
Pioneer Art Settlement Report: Paul told us that Karen Widajewski won our contest for the best Chili at our Club Cookoff and will represent us in their Fire & Ice Event on Sept. 5th (next Saturday). Kim Ziffra presented Karen with a special gift from the Club for representing us: a perfect Chili Pepper Trophy. Good Luck, Karen! We need Model A’s to show up Saturday and participants to route for Karen. Ray & Sandy Nadenik and Dennis Dunn have volunteered to help with the early ticket sales. Jan Shepler made a motion that we reimburse Karen for the ingredients needed to make all the Chili needed for the Contest – all agreed.
Kevin announced that tickets go on sale now for December 3, 2026, Christmas Play at the Athens Theater in DeLand. Has 22 seats in the 2 boxes at side of main stage. November
Fall Festival: Going to be a Big Day or two at the PAS with their 50th Anniversary Celebration along with Model A Days and Fall Festival. Need agenda for Friday & Saturday along with someone to handle Silent Auction & Raffle items - increasing our revenue.
Kim announced that she has sent Thank You cards recently to a number of Car Clubs and Sponsors for their donations of Gift Cards, Sponsorship and parts & tools, etc.
Will need all hand-on-deck to coordinate the plans made and pull off a perfect weekend. Planning Committee needed for:

riday, December 11, 2026, Crankin A’s Christmas Dinner/Party Celebration: Doors open at 5 PM; Dinner 6 PM; Entertainment 7 PM Dinners: Chicken and Salmon - $45.00 and Prime Rib $50.00. This cost includes gratuity, taxes, Dessert, center pieces, etc. Marina & Jim were able to negotiate down to $200 for extra hour added for entertainment. Tickets will be ready for September’s Meeting with checks made out to “Crankin A’s of Daytona” Please bring a gift for exchange.
Kevin commented on the fact that as the weather starts to cool down and we can resume touring, we need to keep cars in good running condition. If any problems arise there are plenty of good mechanics available to help repair or replace any parts as needed.
