July 2026 Monthly Meeting Minutes

CRANKIN A’S MODEL A RESTORERS CLUB, INC.  

MEETING MINUTES – AUGUST 1, 2026  

The July Meeting of the Crankin A’s Model A Restorers Club, Inc. was opened by Vice President, Kevin Duffy, at 10:12 AM on August 1, 2026, at the Pioneer Art Settlement, 176 Lightfoot Lane, Barberville, Fl., 32105.  There were 28 members present.  

It was requested that the minutes of the last meeting be accepted as reported on our Web site: crankinasfl.com.  A motion was made and accepted.  

In the absence of our Treasurer, Ed Hart, Kim Ziffra read his report, and it will be available upon request.  We have 72 current members. 

Sunshine Report: Karen Widajewski reported sending no Get-Well cards, only a Sympathy Card to the Family of Homer Fisher. 

Question of the Day: Kevin read an informative note from Cleo Banfi regarding Henry Ford.  He raised the salary of his employes from $2.34 to $5.00 for an 8-hour shift and was credited for the beginning of the 8-hr. shift.  In 1925 it was recorded that over 5,000 cars were assembled in one day.    Having been born in 1863 he would have recently turned 166 yrs. old. (Thank you Dennis)     

Project Car Report: After Kim Ziffra reported in Treasurer’s Report about over $4,000 being already spent on it, Paul Howes reminded us that they have been working on it for over 10 yrs.😉 - Fine tuning is needed and looking for a steering wheel. 

Pioneer Settlement Report: Paul passed around a very nice new flyer being circulated by the Settlement for their 50^th Fall Jamboree & our Annual Model A Day and Car Show on November 6^th - 8^th, 2026.  He reported on the very costly new bathrooms being built (over $100,000) in two locations, both very nicely placed for our convenient use; one up by the Gate that we guard during events and the second just off to the right of our front porch of the Garage with separate ladies & men’s stalls.  He also informed us that the new Citrus Barn should be completed by October 1, 2026!

Kim Ziffra showed us a copy of the new Pioneer Art Settlement Newsletter distributed to all members (requesting we all sign up as members) She will be writing an article for the Newsletter as she does so nicely for MARC & MAFCA magazines.

OLD BUSINESS: The Service for Joe Dlubac was well attended by 18 of our members and four Model A’s.  

Our Lake Helen Parade on the 4th of July found 8 or 9 of our cars participating on a very Hot Day.  

A Planning Committee is needed for our November Fall Festival/50^th Anniversary/Model A Days Friday & Saturday Nov. 6 & 7:  Agenda for both days; 

• Reception for Friday
• Staffing for Show Table
• Tour to DeLeon Springs State Park in afternoon
• Accommodations for out-of-town guests at Comfort Inn in DeLand
• Car show awards
• Silent Auction items

NEW AND CONTINUING BUSINESS:   

Christmas Play, “A Christmas Story,” at the Athens in DeLand, Dec. 3^rd, 2026.  Kevin has reserved both boxes of 11 seats each) at side of the main stage and has two prime seats on main floor (stairs up to both boxes- no elevators.)  Only 19 tickets are available.  Sign up and ticket sales start today!  

Pop-Up Summer Breakfast Meet-Up Tours: Watch e-mails for notice of Pop-up breakfasts to help keep us together during the summer.   

Model A Swap Meet, Thomson, Georgia August 21-22, Fifth Annual with accommodations at a Days Inn nearby for $54 per night.

Meeting Adjourned at 10:46AM – 50/50 won by Kevin who donated back to Club and picked BJ’s in Daytona for Monthly Dinner August 13, 2026, at 5 PM.  

Chili Cookoffs held after meeting to determine who will represent Club in PASs Fire & Ice Day on September 5^th, 2026!
