CRANKIN A’S MODEL A RESTORERS CLUB, INC.MEETING MINUTES
May 30, 2026
The March Meeting of the Crankin A’s Model A Restorers Club, Inc., was opened by President, Bruce Hawley, at 10:01 AM on May 30, 2026, at the Pioneer Art Settlement, 176 Lightfoot Lane, Barberville, FL. 32105. There were 29 members present including Eddie Roberts and Eva Green, our most recent. They were introduced and welcomed!
It was requested that the minutes of the last meeting be accepted as reported on our Web Site: crankinasfl.com. A motion was made and accepted.
In the absence of our Treasurer, Ed Hart, Kim Ziffra read his report, and it will be available upon request.
Sunshine Report: Karen Widajewski sent Get Well cards to: Bruce Hawley, Larry Antonelli and Joe Dlubac. A Sympathy card was sent to Harvey & Liz Willis and to Cleo Banfi, along with a gift of Windchimes (a picture of them was passed around).
Our Question of the Month from Cleo regarding Henry Ford was read by Bruce. Why did Henry use black paint for many years on the Model T? It was the fastest drying lacquer speeding up production on assembly line. A second question was asked. What is Fordite? It is a term used for Polished pieces of finely layered paint masses mostly found on Ford factory floors showing changing colors of car paint.
Fred Clark gave a report on his project car telling us of his partner, Joe Dlubac’s, current health challenges and asking for fervent prayers. Fred may need a little help in completing the Model T which is almost finished.
Paul Howes gave the Pioneer Settlement Report. Most urgent reminder to all members using the gates at the Garage area MUST be sure to close and lock them when leaving – they had major problems with animals doing damage and trying to round up all around the Settlement. They are in need of any volunteers for all areas and still working on bathrooms. Christen from POS told us of Fire an Ice Show the first weekend in September and suggested we enter the competition for nice monetary prizes. Bruce requested we all become members of the POS.Old Business:
The Club’s May 13th trip to Winter Park was described by Bruce and turned out to be a really fun day.
The Yacht Club dinner on May 14 was described as exceptionally pleasant dinning with good food,
The Lake Helen Memorial Day Car Show was well attended and enjoyed with our giving a $100 Donation to the American Legion.
A good bit of attention was given to talking about the Parts Storage & Stock at the Garage. Security is needed and a new locked set of shelving has been built called the Chicken Coupe. Need to request the parts needed from an officer of the Club to arrange payment. Garage cleanliness was mentioned and Thanks given to Kevin & Greg for cutting grass.
See Larry Antonelli for shirts and name tags.
