As we close out a rather cold February, we have a deep secret that must be kept under wraps here in Florida – Springtime. While we had a few nice days in February, we had record cold, ice and even snow here in the Sunshine State. If there isn’t a law prohibiting that, there should be!
March and April are two of the best kept secrets in Florida. We know, however, that this is prime Model A weather. Little rain, warm temperatures without being too hot, Daylight Savings Time returning, and an evening trip to the ice cream shop are all in order. We have some great events planned, but there is more than enough time for your own little day trips in your Model A.
Four big events are on the upcoming schedule for us – find the details on the EVENTS page on the website. First we have a veterans benefit car show in DeLand on March 15, followed by the Stetson Mansion Historical Guided Tour on March 20. On the weekend of Marcy 28-29 is the 21st Annual Spring Frolic and Car Show. Then on April 8-9 is our Tour to St Augustine.
The Spring Frolic is one of two such events held by the Barberville Pioneer Settlement each year. We support these events by holding a Model A/Pre-WW2 Car Show as well as staffing various positions and helping where we can. Volunteer where you can and plan on attending with your Model A. The car show is on Saturday, but we always bring some Model A’s to the Settlement on Sunday for the crowds to enjoy.
More events are coming. We have our Tinker Tuesdays every week at 9 am, our Monthly Club Dinner on the second Thursday each month, and our Monthly Club Meeting on the last Saturday Morning each month. These are found on the calendar on the front page of the website.
Have an idea for a trip or tour? Let us know – we will see what we can do. Remember that the goal of the Crankin’ A’s is FUN with our Model A’s!
